What is the name of your state?
Washington
Is my landlord who is also my employer, due to the fact that I am a resident manager, allowed to inquire to the nature and extent of my disibility after I requested a reasonable accomadation for my housing to allow for a service animal?

Too much and too little info at the same time... explain again..

We may be able to help try to explain again... or...

I believe ajc is the manager of an apt and requested special accomodation for his/her service animal (ie: seeing eye dog; bt in this case probably not). Is the owner of apts allowed to ask what the extend of the disability is that requires this service animal?

Basically I think the point is is a manager or employer allowed required to provide accomodation for this service animal or are they allowed to inquire (and thus most likely) decide whether the service animal is required or not.

Over 2k posts in under a year... I am not a cathy and chatty definitely goes to someone else...
I got that there was an aid-animal.. but just how??

I am not sure what that means, but if you are asking how it is an aid animal, I am sure it is an animal that provides some kind of aid... thus aid animal...

What exactly is unclear about the question? Someone has a disability, the disabillity requires an aid animal, the person asks for accomodations from their boss/landloard. Is landlord or boss allowed to judge whether accomodations are called for or are they just required to provide them?

I am confident my new place is lined up... put up a good faith deposit to move in in 3 weeks, and after a credit and reference check I should be good to go... I think my credit is fine, but hopefully reference checks can not include personal feelings about a tenant as obviously my current manager and property owner are not happy with me regardless of 4 years of on time rent and no complaints against me...

I was trying to help too... the question interest me and I would like to know the answer. I tried to paraphrase the question which seems to make perfect sense to me...
Please note post #3 I do not see how I was trying to be anything but helpful...
I am not being any more unpleasant or blunt than anyone else has been to me so I am not sure where the negativity comes from... truce? Cookie?

Yes, the prior posters are correct, he is allowed to know at least the basic reason(s) the animal is required. If you wish to do it the easy way, you can just have your doc write a note that your animal is required for emotional support reasons, as a hearing animal or what have you. That is enough to answer his question fairly according to the guidelines without extreme infringement on your privacy.

For instance, ours (for my husband) just says he is requested to keep them for emotional support and that is the end of it. I am not required to divulge any more information than that and neither is your doctor.

He does have a right to know why you need the animal, but he doesn't need or deserve all the nitty gritty of your health issues.

Check out the information available at www.bazelon.org I believe it will help you quite a bit.

I swear, there must be some weird sayings in the south... I will have to remember that thing about the ficks...
Anyhow, it'll be interesting to have a nickname again... don't think I have been branded with something so trivial since about 3rd grade. It's nice to feel that familiar environment again...
and the 2k post... reread the post...

Chatty Cathy I read it again and it states 'Over 2k posts in under a year'

So what do you mean by that then?

You have a way of taking things out of context or incompletely...
